The Tomas Tisch studio specializes in wheel-cut and engraved glass.
Tomas's work includes historical reproductions, original contemporary
designs and consulting on architectural projects involving glass.
He also designs and produces one of a kind work and prototypes for
production in glass.
Tomas is an internationally renowned craftsman and artist. He was
born and trained in Austria at his family's glass studio and at
Glasfachschule, Kramsach. He studied art at the University of Applied
Arts in Vienna and at the Visual Studies workshop in Rochester,
NY. Tomas has designed wheel-cut crystal and glass for, amongst
others, Vitro Crystal, in Mexico and Steuben in the U.S.A. Tomas
established the Cold-Glass program and taught at the California
College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland California. He was guest lecturer
at the Rhode Island School of Design and taught at the renowned
Pillchuck Summer School in Washington State. His art work is represented
in the collections of the Corning Museum of Glass, the American
Craft Museum, New York City, and the collection of the Cristallex
Co. at Castle Lembeck, Novy Bor Czech Rep.
Tomas established his first studio, Tomas Tisch Fine Glass Work,
in 1979 in Oakland, California.
